I believe that effective therapy requires a relationship of trust and respect. For this reason I work collaboratively with clients to identify behaviours they wish to change and to help them manage triggers that precipitate emotional challenges. Accordingly, my interventions are specifically based on and tailored to their changing needs. During my graduate studies at McGill University, I trained in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry developing a variety of approaches to counselling children, adolescents and their families. From 2011-2013, while working as a psychotherapist, I held the position of Clinical Program Advisor at CRD Foster, an accredited and lauded Addiction Centre, leading a team in program development, as well as supervising clinicians and students. I have also completed a three-year post-graduate program in Marital and Family Therapy (MFT) at the Jewish General Hospital. In addition to being a couple and family therapist I am a Gottman Institute certified Bringing Baby Home Educator, qualified to teach the research-based Bringing Baby Home workshop to pregnant and parenting couples. My areas of expertise include: addiction, anxiety, depression, perinatal issues, interpersonal issues, life transitions as well as relationship and family problems. I use an integrative approach to counselling which builds on evidence-based practices including Cognitive and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT). My approach incorporates the twin concepts of mindfulness and acceptance in recognition of their demonstrated effectiveness in addressing anxiety. I also draw on theoretical systemic frameworks which take into account the myriad factors that influence behaviour.
